Domestic violence have male and female victims

Domestic violence have male and female victims. No longer are the aggressor always male and the victim always female. Male victims of domestic violence have only recently received recognition.

Male victims of domestic violence

Yes men too can be victims. One of the most shocking stories of male victims are that of Alex Skeel. He was brutally abused by his girlfriend and the Mother of his 2 children. He was starved, beaten, isolated and stabbed for 9 months. Then one night his girlfriend almost stabbed him to death. Neighbours heard him scream and phoned Police. One Police Officer suspected the unthinkable and questioned Alex. After a while Alex broke down and told him about the abuse. The girlfriend was eventually arrested, trialled and sentenced to 7 years in prison.

Fake domestic violence

DV is a worldwide problem and one thing the world don’t need are fake victims. False allegations have been used against others to take revenge on that person. Such false allegations results in job losses, ruined reputations. The victims of these false allegations are often found guilty by public opinion before they are even put on trial. Even after the allegations are proven to be false these victims struggle to get their lives back again. Most of the time the person who made the false allegations never face the criminal court.

“When it comes to abuse, you believe there’s no way out. There is always help. There is always a way out.” ― Rev. Donna Mulvey

DV are a horrible dehumanising horrible thing and criminal – it should be punished to the full extend of the law. Everyone have the right to live without fear – nobody has the right to take that away from you.
